Part One: Access to Abukir

1a: Nordag

Conversation with Nordag & Questlog Update
Player: hi

Nordag: Welcome to my oasis, adventurer! Player: mission Nordag: I have a mission for you indeed. A few nights ago I had a vision in which I saw another magician in brown clothes... Nordag: He begged me for help, asking me to save his city called Abukir. Apparently, they have problems with supplying food to their citizens... Nordag: A disease seems to have killed off all the animals they bred. I do not recall a lot but these people need our help... Nordag: However, I am too old for adventuring. Please go and find out more about Abukir. Sadly, I do not know where it could be located... Nordag: I've never heard about it before and it is not mentioned in any of my books but maybe an experienced captain knows more about this city.

The Vision
Nordag told you about a vision regarding a city called Abukir. He asked you to find out more about it.

1b: Captain Jalal

Conversation with Captain Jalal & Questlog Update
Player: hi

Captain Jalal: Blessings, Player. Do you need anything? Player: story Captain Jalal: Ahh yea, the story of Abukir. This is one very interesting, his favourite... Captain Jalal: You know there is a legend about why Abukir is so far away... Captain Jalal: It says that it was a great.. great city founded by people that were banished from Yehsha. It was a good place to live and a prospering town as well... Captain Jalal: The legends also tell us that Abukir was once part of this continent, not an island like it is right now... Captain Jalal: The story says that after many years, seven travellers came into the gates of Abukir... Captain Jalal: They were speaking stories about how wealthy and powerful people may become if they would join them and follow into their homeland... Captain Jalal: Suspicious residents of Abukir did not trust the newcomers, but a few people followed them, indeed... Captain Jalal: Through the high mountains they ended up in the hot desert and wandered for a few long weeks, until they stood in front of multiple very deep and strange hidden tombs that apparently only they knew they were there... Captain Jalal: They ventured forth, but the travellers demanded obedience from the people, and wanted them to make a promise that they would never abandon their new masters... Captain Jalal: The mysterious travellers smiled and promised them many dark and powerful rituals. They also promised them great powers, skills, spells, wealth and more... Captain Jalal: However, all they wanted was to cast a ritual, and to make that happen, humans were needed as sacrifice. Actual people from Abukir. Although, with their smooth stories, they always ended up convincing a good handful of people to join them... Captain Jalal: But one of the abukarians did not trust their new masters, and spied on them during the day... Captain Jalal: He then found out that they were evil creatures, not even human-like. In fact, they were Omens, wanting to resurrect a powerful being in a ritual, able to destroy the whole continent of Najira. He then attempted to rescue his fellow people, but it was too late... The omens already brainwashed them with dark magic, and they slowly turned into undeads... Captain Jalal: So that night when they were asleep, he destroyed all of their work. Burned their books, devastated their gem powers and destroyed multiple parts of the walls so that nearly the whole tomb would be flooded by water... Captain Jalal: He then ran away, as quick as he could. In hope the omens would drown by his actions... Captain Jalal: Soon after, terrible plagues fell upon Abukir, one of them teared the land apart, the other one cursed the island with immense thunderstorms, boats could not sail there anymore... Captain Jalal: Cough.. cough.. The story is longer but my throat went dry... Captain Jalal: Now I do not believe in most of this story, and you should not either, but I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did when I listened to my grandfather... Captain Jalal: If you want to know more, look for a book in Yehsha or Osaris. It should be somewhere.

The Vision
Jalal told you a story about the city Abukir and mentioned books regarding the story. He claims they can be found in the Osaris palace.

1c: Yargoon

Conversation with Yargoon & Questlog Update
Player: hi

Yargoon: Hello, wanderer. Player: plagues Yargoon: The first one came silent and unexpected. For a few days none of the shipments from the main land arrived... Yargoon: After a while the towns wisest sent a ship to search for the shipments but one day later they returned with a destroyed ship, only one of the men alive. The calm waters around Abukir turned into the most dangerous ocean in the world... Yargoon: There was no going back. At that point, many citizens decided to move into the newly colonized areas of Najira but some lucky ones stayed... Yargoon: When the pack of mortals walked through the passage in Kha'Zeel the second plague struck. The mountains started to move apart, causing the humans standing inside the passage to drop deep into the newly formed gap... Yargoon: None of them survived. The ones that were still living in Abukir, like me, had no way out... Yargoon: The third and fourth plague occured almost simultaneously. Black clouds formed above the city and it started raining hot tar for days. At the same time, the sand changed and it was barely possible to move on it... Yargoon: It was that day, that I decided to climb over the mountains and swim to Kha'Zeel because I knew there was nothing but death waiting for me in Abukir... Yargoon: I managed to get across since the gap between the lands was not too long yet and the thunderstorms were weak in the shallow water but I took heavy injuries as the mountains still moved to kill any passing mortals... Yargoon: I fell into the sand and the next thing I remember is pharaoh Ohrul awakening me. He saved my life by making me an immortal being... Yargoon: I told him about the plagues and he understood that Omens betrayed us. I am eternally grateful and in his debt, that is why I do all his business with your kind... Yargoon: Back then I still had feelings for the human race and I asked Ohrul if he could transform the others aswell but he told me that he would have to lock up his betrayers before they could destroy the newly colonized cities too... Yargoon: My saviour sealed their flooded tombs underneath the sand. Now we don't really now what is happening to them. After that there was no more hope for Abukir as the plagues kept coming and by now Abukir should be less than dust... Yargoon: I do not recommend exploring it unless you seek assured death but if you really have to you should try to take a ship. I can assure you that it is no longer possible to climb the mountains and swim to the other side... Yargoon: They kept changing until they reached a state where no human being can cross them. However, maybe you are lucky enough to survive the thunderstorms with a well prepared ship and a fearless crew.

The Vision
You talked to Kelal in Yehsha and he told you the true story of Abukir. He recommended taking the boat but warned you that it will be deadly.

Player: hi

Part Two: Travelling Back

2a: Donnar

  • Once on Abukir, you need to find Donnar who is specialized in the arts of energy magic and is waiting for you in a tower located east of the Depot, here.
Conversation with Donnar & Questlog Update
Player: hi

Donnar: I was expecting you Player. You should be glad that my counterspell weakened the thunderstorm, else you would not be standing here. Player: mission Donnar: Thank god. As you might know, Abukir has been shut off from the civilization for many centuries now... Donnar: We angered the immortal inhabitants of this continent and they doomed us, nearly killing every single one of us... Donnar: There were seven plagues destroying our city, but a few of us managed to survive them and live for generations. Up until now... Donnar: You see, surviving in this hellhole is a lot harder than it seems. The only source of food we have is fish and meat from our lion and hyaena farm... Donnar: A couple of weeks ago one of the animals got sick and the disease quickly spread among the farm, killing off every single one of them... Donnar: Now all we have left is fish, which slowly starts to die out due to overexploitation. We have to find a way to get rid of the thunderstorm plague... Donnar: I know it is possible. Back when the plagues started my ancestors managed to destroy the tar clouds and they stopped the spread of the quicksand... Donnar: I am sure there is a way to make the thunderstorms disappear, so it's possible for us to use the ship route again and supply our city with food from elsewhere... Donnar: As you can see I specialized myself in the arts of energy magic for that specific reason... Donnar: I found out a lot and everything we need to cast a fully working counterspell that will last without me having to cast it is on this island. I can feel it... Donnar: However, we never had the supplies to explore after an old mans feeling. In the south west of the city you will find an exit leading to the Sanafa Desert... Donnar: Go there. As soon as you are over the mountain and entered the desert head either north west or east, until you reach a cave protected by the undead along the mountain range... Donnar: In both vaults you will find a powerful crystal, which I need for the counterspell. For an experienced adventurer like you it should be no problem to receive the crystals... Donnar: Just be careful that you do not lose one of the stones as you will only have one chance to obtain them. Go now.

The Vision
You talked to Donnar regarding Abukir's fate and he sent you on a mission to recieve two stones from two vaults located in the desert south of Abukir.

2b: Crystals

  • After speaking with Donnar, you will be called to find two crystals. Both crystals are in two different tombs west of Abukir.

2c: Back to Donnar

Conversation with Donnar & Questlog Update
Player: hi

Donnar: I was expecting you Player. Player: mission Donnar: Did you return with the crystals we need? Player: yes Donnar: Ah, great. Just like I saw it in my visions. Hundreds of years our city waited for the moment that we can finally travel again.

The Vision (completed)
You returned the two stones and Donnar performed his spell to get rid of the thunderstorms surrounding Abukir. The searoute is open again.
