Mostly used by Scouts (Rangers) because of their quick advancement in Distance Fighting.
Crossbows and bows are unique because they cannot be used by themselves, they require Arrows or Bolts to cause damage.
Some ammunition has special effects on the target when used, some bows and crossbows also have similar properties or DoT's (damage over time). Some of these are only triggered while using regular Bolts or Arrows while others will also work with Hunting Bolts or Hunting Arrows.
Unlike melee weapons or thrown distance weapons, bows and crossbows themselves do not have any attack value (unless the attribute Flawless is to be counted), instead it is drawn from ammunition.
Bows and crossbows offer another "stat" which is the "Hit%" increase that makes your attacks more likely to hit (the base hit-chance is 90%).
Most stronger bows and crossbows can be enchanted or looted with Attributes, some have special or hidden Properties.
