Mining
Mining is one of the skills in which Medivia offers alongside the likes of Fishing. It does not cause any direct impact on your play, although can be used for future benefits or enjoyment.
Getting Started
In order to begin mining you have two options;
- Join the The Dwarf Faction and complete the first mission in order to trade with Grazlin, or
- Purchase an Advanced Pick off a player
Notes:
- An advanced pick costs 2,000gp from NPC Grazlin. From players it can be more expensive.
- In order to have Grazlin forge you any items, you must first complete the first mission of the Dwarven Faction.
- In order to have Grazlin forge you an epic item, you must complete the entire Dwarven Faction.
- You can increase your Mining skill by either mining ore from rocks or smelting ores into bars.
Mining
All characters start out like all other skills with Mining 10. At this point you will only be able to mine Copper Ores. Remember if you lack the required skill to mine an ore, your character will continuesly "poof" and never succeed in obtaining the ore. Even with Mining skill 80, you can still "poof" several times on even the simplest ores such as Copper and Silver.Mining Level | Ore | Rarity | General Locations |
---|---|---|---|
10 | Copper Ore | Common |
Found in Thais, Venore, and the Dwarf Mines. |
15 | Silver Ore | Common |
Found in Thais, Femur Hills, and Mount Sternum. |
20 | Phenakite Ore | Common |
Found in Thais, Vilias, and Venore. |
25 | Chalcopyrite Ore | Uncommon | Found in deeper Forgula. |
30 | Vanadinite Ore | Uncommon | Found in Dragon Lairs. |
35 | Bornite Ore | Semi Rare | Found in deeper Forgula. |
40 | Wolframite Ore | Very Rare | Found in Dwarf Mines. |
45 | Gold Ore | Semi Rare | Found near Plains of Havoc Dragons. |
50 | Carnotite Ore | Very Rare | Found in Shadowthorn. |
60 | Heliodor Ore | Extremely Rare |
Found in Catacombs. |
Please note that these ores are not limited to these locations, there are hundreds of ore veins across Medivia for you to explore and find. Try asking experienced miners to shed some light on specific ore veins if you are searching for any ore in specific.
Pick | Ores Harvested | Cost |
---|---|---|
Advanced Pick | 1 | 2,000gp |
Modified Pick | 1-2 | Advanced Pick, 15 Copper Bars, 10 Silver Bars, 8 Phenakite Bars, and 5 Chalcopyrite Bars |
Enhanced Pick | 1-3 | Modified Pick, 10 Vanadinite Bars, 7 Bornite Bars, and 5 Wolframite Bars |
Golden Pick | 1-5 | Enhanced Pick, 5 Gold Bars, 2 Carnotite Bars, and 1 Heliodore Bar |
You will obtain 1 ore with an advanced pick. You will obtain 1-2 ores with a modified pick. You will obtain 1-3 ores with an enhanced pick. You will obtain 1-5 ores with a gold pick.
Forging
In order to forge an item you must go to Grazlin and find a forge. You then use the ores you have collected in intervals of 5 on the forge to create bars. Depending on how high your mining skills is, you have a chance to smelt 2 bars out of 5 ores instead of 1. For example, at 60 mining you will forge quite a few doubles of copper or say silver, however, you will have a very low chance of forging double wolframite bars.
Crafting
If you have completed the first mission of The Dwarf Faction, you will have the ability to trade with NPC Grazlin your bars for certain items.
Note: The following table lists the items by using the highest-rated ore in its requirement, starting with Copper as the lowest rated and ending with Heliodor as the highest. This list will not be in economic order, just from what types of bars it requires. For a list of items by their item group (Helmets, Swords, Legs, etc) go to the Grazlin page.
