Mining is one of the skills in which Medivia offers alongside the likes of Fishing. It does not cause any direct impact on your play, although can be used for future benefits or enjoyment.

Getting Started

---

In order to begin mining you have two options;

 

1. Join the The Dwarf Faction and complete the first mission in order to trade with Grazlin, or
2. Purchase an Advanced Pick off a player

Notes:

• An advanced pick costs 2,000gp from NPC Grazlin. From players it can more expensive.
• In order to craft items you will require the first mission of The Dwarf Faction to be completed.
• Both mining and smithing increase your Mining skill, although smithing is not as fast.

 

Mining

---

When you start out you will have a mining level of 10. At this level all you will be able to mine only Copper Ores. Remember that you can only mine ores in which you have sufficient skill to mine, otherwise it will just 'poof'. In mining, it can take numerous attempts in harvesting an ore to successfully mine it, as seen below.

 

  Each ore will give different increases in your mining skill, except for; Copper, Silver, and Phenakite, which all give the same amount.

10	Copper Ore	Common	Commonly found on the surface, although also found above and below surface in easy-to-get-to areas
15	Silver Ore	Common	Usually around mountains (e.g. Femur Hills, Mount Sternum, South of Thais)
20	Phenakite Ore	Common	Mostly underground, although not very deep.
25	Chalcopyrite Ore		Found in cold areas, deep underground (e.g. Forgula)
30	Vanadinite Ore		Located in hot areas (e.g. Dragon lairs)
35	Bornite Ore		Deep down in cold caves (e.g. Forgula)
40	Wolframite Ore
45	Gold Ore	Very Rare
50	Carnotite Ore	Very Rare
60	Heliodor Ore	Extremely Rare	Only 4 known locations

You will only obtain 1 ore, unless you have upgraded your Advanced Pick.

Smithing

---

With smithing, you must go to NPC Grazlin and there you will find a forge in which you can 'use' the ores you have collected on the forge in order to create bars. Each bar you forge will require 5 of the same ore.

  It is possible to create 2 bars from 5 ore if your skill is high enough.
 

 

Crafting

---

If you have completed the first mission of The Dwarf Faction, you will have the ability to trade with NPC Grazlin your bars for certain items.
