This is how runes of power works; they use it to improve the quality of metal in order to make it more durable. But some sinister forces found other uses of this powerful rune. They imbue sacrificial stones in order to link them directly with the realm of the demons. The power created after taking a life travels towards their masters making them stronger with each death.
